Arrows that land on a word.
In Margin an arrow is bound to the word you drew it to, not to a spot on the screen. Resize the verses, change the text size, close the app and come back next year: it still points at the same word.
Try it. Drag the width and watch the verse rewrap.
John 1:4–5 · KJV
4In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
comprehended, or overcome?
Narrowing the verse rewraps the text. The arrow stays attached to the word comprehended.

Tag what keeps coming back.
Make a tag for a word or a theme and give it a colour. Tagged words turn bold in that colour, right in the text, and the sidebar keeps count. Repetition you would have read past starts to show.
One verse at a time.
Press F and the canvas settles on the verses you chose, at a size made for reading. Click a verse number to narrow it to one. Everything else falls quiet, except the notes that belong to it.

Questions
Straight answers about what Margin is, and what it isn’t yet.
Not quite yet. Margin is still being built, and the download will appear on this page when the first version is ready. Until then the button says so.
Built to stay out of the way.
- Works offline
- Scripture, fonts and everything else ship inside the app. Margin never needs the network to open a study.
- Your studies are files
- Each study is a plain JSON file in a Margin folder in your Documents. Back it up, sync it, or open it in any text editor.
- No account
- There is nothing to sign up for, and nothing reports back. No analytics, no tracking.
- Made for the keyboard
- V, T, A and H switch tools. F focuses. ⌘K finds verses and commands. Every control also has a button.
- Handwritten, or plain
- Notes are written in a marker-style hand by default, with a plain font one click away for longer thoughts.
- Saves as you go
- Every change is saved. If a save fails, or another program changes the file, Margin keeps your work and tells you.
Coming to the Mac.
Margin is being prepared for its first beta. The Mac download will appear here when it’s ready.
